When you come to The Bournemouth International Language College, your host family has been specially selected to provide you with a high standard of food and accommodation during your stay. The College will try to match your interests and needs to those of your family. They will encourage you to join in their daily life helping to expand your knowledge of the culture. You can watch the family television, read books and newspapers, listen to music and have conversation. You really will live English!

On arrival your hosts will give you a set of keys so you can be independent. They will explain the rules of the house to prevent conflict and make your stay more enjoyable. You will be provided with breakfast and evening meal. Your room will be cleaned once a week, towels will be provided, and your washing done. Some families will also do your ironing but you should negotiate with them for this service. Before coming to England, it is polite to write to your family to tell them about yourself, giving them time to reply.

Meals provided whilst at The College

Breakfast Breakfast will consist of fruit juice, tea or coffee, toast and preserve plus one of the following: cereal, eggs, cold meats or cheese. At the weekend a full English breakfast will be available to you. Breakfast may be later at the weekends because many people like to stay in bed.

Evening meals Your evening meal will vary each night but it will be made up of two courses: either a starter and a main course; or a main course and a sweet.

English Food? Many English families like variety in their evening meal. Apart from traditional English food, most people also enjoy food from other countries such as Italian, Chinese and French. Your host family will tell you of the meal times.
