| FIRST LANGUAGE COLLEGE TO WIN INVESTOR IN PEOPLE AWARD |
|
'Stay One Step Ahead of the Competitors' The Bournemouth International Language College had a special reason to celebrate recently. They became the first language college to achieve the Investor In People (IIP) award. The College was launched just five years ago by Anthony Rayner and Shirley Cook, based at Royal London House on the Lansdowne in Bournemouth. The College has been very quick to gain the prestigious National Standard. Investors in People benchmarks good business practice for improving an organisation's performance through its staff. A celebratory presentation lunch was held at Chablis Wine Bar a few doors from the College, and was attended by students, tutors and representatives of Dorset TEC. After a short congratulatory speech by Tony Ward, Chief Executive of Dorset TEC, the College Principal and Vice Principal were presented with the certificate and plaque by Marina Rumjantseva, Managing Director of Digital Design UK and Ludek Schollar a Senior Manager from Ceskoslovenkia Obchodni Banka a.s. (CSOB). Marina was the first student to attend the College from Digital Design of St Petersburg, closely followed by Managing Director (Russia) Andrew Federov. Due to the language training they received at the College they secured a contract from Microsoft, and through the College they were introduced to a local company, Deverills PLC, of Poole, with which they formed a joint venture company. |

from the Czech Republic who attend specialist English language lessons
at the college. Vice Principal Shirley Cook said "The Czech Republic is
a big marketplace for us - besides CSOB we provide specialist training
for OB Leasing and KOB". "Our International Banking and Finance course
is our highest selling course," said Principal Tony Rayner " due to IIP
we have been able to increase our training budget and we currently have
six assessors taking the AICB (Associate of the Institute of Certified
Book-keepers) course, and hope to add this to our banking and finance
portfolio in mid-summer." |
