Feeling at home in England
At Swandean we create a friendly atmosphere
between teachers and students, and make sure that new and
sometimes shy students learn as much as their more confident
classmates. Your enrolment will be looked after by our Registrar
and her staff. They will send you confirmation of your course
and dates; the name, address and homestay details of your
accommodation; a map of the town showing the location of
the school and accommodation; and any other information
you may need including travel arrangements in England. Once
you are here, the office is open daily to help you with
any requests, from opening a bank account to making a dental
appointment, from buying a travel ticket to booking a theatre
seat.

Worthing at night |
Worthing, the location of
our year round school, is 1 hour and 15 minutes from London
by train, 45 minutes from Gatwick Airport and 2 hours from
Heathrow Airport. The town has plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants,
discos, parks and gardens, as well as 5 miles of seafront
with clean sea-bathing, a pier, theatre and concert halls
and a wide range of leisure and sports amenities. Yet it
is a place where people have time to talk and it is easy
to make friends.
Brighton is 15 miles east
of Worthing and 1 hour from London by train. It has the
elegance and charm of old England with the splendid Royal
Pavilion and the historic "Lanes" full of boutiques,
cafes, art galleries and antique shops. Brighton also offers
all the excitement of the modern day with theatres,
cinemas, concerts, discos, ice-skating, pubs, restaurants,
a great choice of sports and social activities and one of
the longest promenades in the world
Enjoying your free time
Our full-time

with the students and you can choose how much or how little
you want to participate. A typical programme might include:
- A theatre
or cinema trip
- A
school party
- Visits
to local pubs and discos
- A live music evening
- A country walk
- A video evening
- Ten-pin
bowling
- A visit to a sports centre/swimming
pool
- Tennis or cricket
- Football or volleyball
- An international food
party
There are full-day
excursions most weekends to such places as London, Cambridge,
Oxford or Portsmouth as well as trips further afield, for
example to Scotland.
The Social Programme Organiser
or another representative of the school accompanies students
on all the events in the programme. If you have particular
hobbies or interests you wish to follow, let us know and
we will do our best to advise you or make arrangements for
you.
