Notes and Conditions

Group Programmes

The school arranges vacation courses in Worthing for groups of 10 or more students from the age of 12 upwards.

Packages, offering a combination of tuition, host family accommodation, excursions and other activities, include price discounts and other concessions. Please write for more information.

Levels

Courses are offered at five levels: Elementary, Lower Intermediate, Intermediate, Higher Intermediate and Advanced. Lessons take place mornings or afternoons.

To qualify for admission to the Elementary class all students must be capable of asking and answering simple questions (in the present and past tenses) in English and have a vocabulary of approximately 250 words. We regret we are not usually able to take students below this level on Summer Vacation Courses.

Students are tested on the first Monday of their course and allocated to a class of an appropriate level. If a student arrives too late for the Monday test, the school cannot guarantee a place in the appropriate class for the remainder of the student’s first week.

Social Activities

The school offers a range of social programmes appropriate to its different courses. Students are encouraged to join in the social programmes organised by the school. They pay only for those excursions and activities in which they wish to participate, except on Young Learners Summer Vacation Courses where the social programme is included in the cost.

Additional Charges

Charges for family accommodation are calculated for multiples of 7 nights. Students must pay the family’s charges for any extension of stay. The school will also pass on to students any bank charges incurred on remittances.

General Conditions

Public Holidays. The school regrets that, if a public holiday occurs during any course, it is unable to grant any reimbursements for time lost.

Scheduling of Courses. The school reserves the right to cancel or otherwise alter the dates, times or any of the other particulars of the courses referred to in this leaflet, except that in the event of cancellation all payments made in respect of courses so cancelled will be refunded.

Limits of Liability. Swandean School cares sincerely about the welfare of all its students and makes its best efforts to assist them in resolving problems that may arise for them in or out of school. While, however, it does its best to help, it accepts no responsibility or liability in respect of deficiencies in the services of any third party which it may use in connection with its own services to students, nor for any injury, illness, damage, loss, delay or inconvenience howsoever occasioned to or incurred by the student. Any additional expenses incurred as a result of any of the foregoing shall be borne exclusively by the student.
